It could be diet programs, exercise coaches or weight loss groups that tell us - slow and gradual weight loss is better than rapid weight loss, but is that really true?
How many of us have had success with consistently losing a pound a week for say 3-4 months and succeeded in keeping that weight off for a year or more?
However, there are some specific cases I know of where someone lost some serious weight over a 4-week period – 10-pounds or even more, and were able to keep most of it off. Could this kind of rapid weight loss actually work better in terms of your long-term weight loss goals?
According to some credible research outlined over at FitCommerce.com, there are studies that support the notion that rapid weight loss can result in a more lasting weight loss – especially where the fat lost is not due solely to dietary changes.
So, how might this change our way of looking at our weight loss goals…
1. Change our attitude to look at every aspect of weight loss – dietary, stress management, exercise and even weight loss counselling and weight loss diet pills when under supervision. By taking a full-frontal approach to rapid weight loss you should have a much better chance of keeping your weight off in the long-term.
2. Seek out the help of a weight loss coach who can put together a program of diet, exercise, nutrition and meditation/yoga so you can tackle multiple methods of weight loss at one time instead of trying to make small changes here and there.
3. Especially if you are someone who has tried several times to succeed with gradual weight loss plans, but cannot seem to get them to work – try rapid weight loss paying particula respect to non-dietary (ie. don’t just starve yourself) methods.
